Strike a pose

Got this from a friend 🙂

We were haven Korean hotpot and she mentioned that before she does any interview, she does the Wonder Woman pose. You know the pose.

Hand on hip, shoulder broad and not hunched. I did some research and apparently, poses like this has an effect on your brain, body and mood. This pose supplies you with alpha stream, makes you feel expansive and relaxes your vocal cords.

There’s always been talk about how power poses actually changes your body chemistry. Here’s a really good TED Talk you should check out on this topic.  http://www.ted.com/talks/amy_cuddy_your_body_language_shapes_who_you_are#t-29183

I watched the video and I realize I have the typical non-power pose. Be it during interviews or meetings or new social events. I don’t like to take up too much of space and I’m initially very guarded unless I trust someone or the situation.

Anyways, I’ve been doing the wonder woman pose recently before situations that required me to step up and it’s sorta working. In that, at least my body feels warmed up and prepped before I step into these situations. So that’s what I’m going to be doing before my next interview.

Hands on hips, shoulders broad and head high in the air. I’ll skip the costume though.
